Forward facing child seat in RUNNER

Hello everyone! I know im not the only one with a child here, I was just wondering what forward facing car seats you have for your child. and how is the fitment the back. I just recently bought the Britax Marathon, and the thing looks extra tall in the back of my 06 runner. here's a pic of the seat. I will have pics of the fitment soon enough ( kinda cold outside ) I was wondering if I should return it and get a lower sitting seat, but I was just thinking safety wise this is one of the best to get. Does anyone have this seat or a different one?

We have two britax marathons, one in my 4runner and one in my wifes passout (passat) they fit fine... I have had no issues with them. I have to move the head rest up one click and I use the strap that goes over the back of the seat as well to latch it in tight. My little one enjoys it, gets to see more in my car due to sitting up higher.

I also have the Britax Marathon for my boy and he loves that seat. What I did was reverse the headrest and the seat fits like butter. The belt locking latch design on this seat is ingenious, and I found out I didn't need to use the back strap since my seat stays tightly secured all the time.

So you mean to tell me that those little mini seat belt looking things on the side of this carseat work for the runner? im gonna have to check that out. I have it hooked up where i just run the seatbelt through the back of the seat, and i have the strap locked in the back also.

Like the others above, I also have the Brittax. I works great and is top rated for safety.

I use the LATCH system that is positioned halfway between the driver's side and the middle. It is much better and tighter than using the seatbelt in the middle position. It is rock solid, like it is part of the seat itself. I would definitely suggest that you start using the LATCH attachments.

I do wish that the LATCH attachments were in all three positions. I have to move the Brittax to the middle (seatbelt) when we have two rear passengers.

I have to say the attachments and fit is much better than my old 2001 SuperCrew.

I removed the original seat head restraint and left it in the garage. Using the LATCH anchor the seat is absolutely unmoveable. I really cinch it in there tight as possible. I don't care about ruining/marking the leather seat. I never tried the belt method.

1-there are LATCH anchors for all three rear positions as far as I can tell (2003). I would think you just double up the middle ones for side-by-side seating. Is this correct or incorrect?

2-Consumer Reports rates the marathon at the bottom of it's class. Odd because the similar "Roundabout" is top rated. Is this because the marathon can seat a heavier child, and is probably tested at it's max weight?

I think you probably misinterpreted me or maybe I should have used my words correctly haha.

I "only" use the rear seat belt. There is a locking mechanism for the seat belt on the Marathon where you can lock in the tightness of the seat belt. This way it stays snug to the back seat at all times. I've never had to use the anchors that came with the (Marathon) seat, and never used the middle section of the rear seat.

Interesting. I wonder if my LATCH system is different because I have the third row option with the adjustable/folding second row? But I have anchors for halfway between drivers/middle and far passenger. I guess you may be able to hook it up in the middle using attachments from each, but it might be a stretch. I think the manual only shows two placements, however.

I checked and I have the Roundabout model, which comes highly rated for safety. I'm not sure why the Marathon isn't up there as well. The Brittax seats are supposed to be some of the best out there.

Anyone have two car seats at the same time? I'm getting ready for a new addition; just curious to see how it works.

ETA: I fold a towel and put it in between the car seat and the seat. I haven't seen it leave a mark yet. It might save your leather some wear and tear.

I've got you all beat we have three Britax seats, a Marathon, a Roundabout, and a Diplomat. Usually the Marathon and Diplomat reside in the MDX while the Roundabout lives in the Runner. I prefer the roundabout in the Runner as it is slightly shorter than the Marathon and doesn't interfer with my rear visibility. FYI - The Diplomat is a "newer" version of the Roundabout with more safety features.

I also leave the Roundabout in the middle of the second row and use the seatbelt to secure it to the seat. Like the others have posted, it's rock solid. FYI - The LATCH system and seatbelt are equally safe.

You're right. I just find that it is quicker and easier to get a proper fit using the LATCH attachments. I can do the same with the center seat belt, but it ends up taking twice as long. I also find that most people don't know they need to pull the belt all the way out to get the "clicks" so that that it will always be tight. I find myself checking every car and seat combo that my daughter rides in before they take off. Just to be safe.

I also use the latch anchor in the back of the seat, but i was talking about thos mini seatbelt looking things on the bottom of the actual carseat on each side. did you use those? any pics on how its settup in you truck?
