Found a "built" 4-runner for sale. Iowa

Not mine. But I saw this for sale in town. Kinda weird to find a 4-runner built like this around here!

I drove it and it drove fine but there is something wrong with the 4wd system it just made a clunk noise and wouldn't activate. Had leaky exhaust, and broken windshield. Also looked to have a large maybe 3" bodylift. Not positive though. So those are the bad parts the goods where TRD supercharger, URD fuel mods, OME suspension. Looked like all pro sliders, skid row skids, and ARB rear locker with ARB compressor. Anyway this rig would make a great start. paperwork for mods where in the Boston, Ma. area.

They're asking waaaay too much for it. Even if it didn't have the problems you describe, they're asking too much.

Minus the 3000.00 for the cost of a supercharger and thats a little excessive but not too bad! If the 4wd has problems you have an entirely different ball of wax to deal with.

i agree with others and besides you never buy a built rig, you never know who did the work what parts they used, if they f'd up the work ect ect ect, as well as most likely being wheeled alot and taken some lumps... too many unknowns in my book, i'd rather just start with a nice clean stock rig.

That's what I did I bought a 2002 sport for the same price that is extremely clean and never been worked or modded except routine Maint.

Used Toyota 4x4's are VERY rare around where I live. They always go for retail book value.

I'm in the same boat all 4Runners up here from dealers are well over blue book, and people still buy them.

I completely agree with izzardking, if you're buying an already built rig, you're taking a chance that they beat the crap out of it, used cheap parts, bad installation, etc... And most of all, you'd be missing the whole point IMO - building the rig is just as fun as driving it!

that may be why its priced so high,

If you come out to Colorado where theres a 3rd gen on every lot and 20 driving by while you talk to the dealer, they will be cheaper.

Hey! Yeah I'm in Ankeny.

It actually looked pretty clean underneath. But then again it only takes one bad driver one bad trip to mess up allot of stuff.
