Found a mug that fits the 4th Gen cup holders

Hey guys, I've seen questions about mugs that fit those annoying cup holders. Well, my wife just came home with one of these from Target. About $16 there and it fits perfect if you have the handle go over the moving partition. That means if you're trying to get two mugs in there it won't work but if it's just your coffee it fits better than I could have hoped. No more spilled coffee as I go around corners.

That's the exact same one I use....bought mine at Meijer here in Cbus, OH for $15. Works great, fits right over the partition....actually bought 2 of em :p
 
I don't know if you know this or not, but in the cup holder section in both cup holders, there's a plastic lever that swings out to cradle what ever size cup you have in there so it does not fall over when turning. The levers are located at the back of the cup holder and swings out in your direction.


Just putting my 2 cents in just in case you didn't know? :D
 
Those levers don't really hold very well, and meet the cup at a wierd angle, in my experience. A cheap way to make sure it's a fit for all, is to buy a roll of packing tape, and simply stick it in the holder. Then put your drink in the o-ring of the packing tape. It's worked great for me! All sizes too, cans, bottles, fast food cups, holds them all snuggly.
 
Our 4Runner has a very bad design for the cup holder.

I'm thinking of just using a piece of sponge to cushion & take up the empty space.
 
yeah, the cup holders and tabs are pretty much worthless in the T4R's. I will say, the ones in my Cherokee were pretty nice. They were deep and got narrower towards the bottom. Fit almost any size cup and they were right in front of the center console. That was the best part of the interior....so sad. But I usually drink anywhere from 24 to 32 oz. of coffee in the mornings, so the tall, skinny cups definitely don't work too well in the the 4Runner. Love the short, fat one though...it's perfect. :D
 
I'm confused as to why you all think the cup holders suck in the 4Runner? The front cup holders work for the things I use in them - soda cans, bottled water, etc... what size containers are you all putting in them? They are much better than the 12 oz can sized cup holders in my old Accord...
 
whoa....quiet the coffee drinking apparatus. I am gonna get one for my wife, since I don't drink coffee.....

Yes, took me a month to notice that. They just don't hold anything with weight if it's taller than say a soda can. Other items like water bottles work as long as they are the wide kind. It seems you need something about the width of a nalgene bottle. That fits secure enough to hold something full of liquid when going around a corner.

Actually it seems about the same contents as most coffee mugs but is shorter and fatter. Used it today and it worked perfectly. Now if you filled that with espresso as you say that's another thing altogether!
 
I'm with the minority, no issues with my cup holders. 16oz Arrowhead and Crystal Geysers bottle stay in them.
