There was one for sale that was an SR5 with a manual transmission and manual windows. If it wasn't in such bad shape I would've bought it. It still gets posted periodically on the local Craigslist. When I saw it last spring the guy said I was the only to contact him at that point.

I've seen 2 in person. I would have gotten them, but the panels were trashed

One was 5 speed 4wd with tan cloth interior

Not true.....you let the inside of the vehicle fill with water, pull up on the lock, and open the door. By the time the inside fills, the pressure has equalized enough to open the door. Just don't panic and wait for it to fill.

Not gonna happen when I'm upside down, confused and enveloped in dark freezing water. But to fumble around and find the window handle while there is still only a little water inside and just remember to hold your breath and keep turning no matter what, way easier. A few years ago an ambulance went off the road nearby into a lake, they all died, couldn't get out.
Funny story, my friend has a Fisker Karma, which has fully electric everything including doors, there is no handle to pull. He was driving around with a dead electric battery I think, can't remember the exact story, so his electrics didn't work. He couldn't unlock the doors from the inside and the only way to unlock them was from the outside with the key but he had the key inside. So he had to call his wife on the cell phone which didn't work in his garage, and get her to bring the other set of keys, so he just cranked the stereo to full blast to get her attention. She opened the door and threw the keys in and shut the door afterwards so he still couldn't get out and all the keys were inside!!! He was yelling but she didn't get it. So he had to go drive around for 10 km in gas mode to recharge the battery in order to get out. That thing is a death trap.

I have always felt that power windows are a solution to a non-existant problem. Of course, one should be able to get them if one is fascinated with motors, space-age gimmicks, etc, and those that are handicapped may actually need them.
I'd convert mine to hand-crank, except the interior trim panels were too expensive new, and the junk yards know that they are rare.

Your windows will still work if they're in the water, just roll them down before you start sinking as long as they aren't under water with the pressure pushing on them.

I feel like this is a definite long shot.
And I won't use my cell phone because 4 people got brain cancer, and I'll never take an elevator because they fall and kill people in movies, and I'll never get a cat because I might get cat scratch fever, and I'll keep playing the powerball because the odds are in my favor....
Honestly, if you somehow manage to end up in a lake, Michael Scott, use the metal prongs on your headrest to break a window.
I really like the one touch window for the passenger. Shame they removed that for the 4th gen...seriously...why take away options?

When the weather is nice out I like having the option to open all 5 windows from my finger tips. Or close them when I get on the highway. Or keep them cracked a little on a warm rainy day, etc....

I know that manual windows suck, especially on a vehicle like a 4Runner. I just like the rarity of the manual windows. Honestly if you truly only wanted manual windows when buying a new 4Runner twenty years ago, I think you are insane.

Yeah I appreciate the rarity as well, I didn't even know it was an option to not have power windows. Just teasing everyone a little. There's no way I'd swap them into my truck though, not like we have problems with our motors or controls frequently but I like the "neat" factor and if I saw them in a junkyard I'd pull everything as well and try to sell it.
