Found new compartment

I found that compartment on the first day, but it took me a week before I found the tasty french fries stashed between the console and the seat!

What is the purpose for the weird mold on the underside of the lid for the "hidden" console compartment? Looks like a credit card or driver's license holder?

----------Just checked for myself. A driver's license or credit card fits exactly.

I use my small center console for the ipod. perfect place for it.

i do the same with mine...i got an ipod control for the stock deck and ran the wire up in there...its perfect easy to get to..but hidden.

well there is 2 compartments it looks like people are referring to...one is the center console...try just pulling it up w/o pushing up on the lever...there will be a smaller compartment on top of the bigger one...the other one is next to ebrake behind cupholders...its tiny only size of...well like previous poster said...a credit card...or an ipod

side pocket on seat

On my old '93 toyota 4x4 pickup I had the side pocket on my driver seat only. It was there to place the seatbelt latch for the center "seat" seatbelt and get it out of the way, since you rarely used the center seat/hump in the older trucks. I had the 40/60 split seat configuration, with the fold down armrest. I believe the 3G 4runners have it there for the same reason, since most of the seats are all the same for all models. Hope this helps.

Picture Please

Can someone please post a picture of that compartment. I'll check it when i go to my truck tonight. PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

IPOD control

Slightly off topic -

Where did you get an ipod control and how did you attach it to the stock deck?

i bought mine off ebay it was around $125 SO worth it....and way easy to install i did it in the parking lot at work during my lunch break....basically...it disconnects the cd changer if you have one..and plugs in that spot...then run cable where you want...i took out whole center console then center dash and deck...plug into stock deck..ran cable under center console drilled a small i think 1/4" hole in that small comparment by ebrake..ran cable up that hole...hid the ipod box next to shifter.....done and done

Ummm...the ad was deleted, but that's okay. I think I understand how it installs.

Do you have to take the head unit out to unplug and replug the harness in? My runner doesn't have a cd changer, but I can't imagine the stock unit to be that different.

ya..need to take head unit out but its easy only 4 screws...do you have the double din one? with single cd? i dont have changer either but it works...the set comes w. 2 cables to plug to back of deck..one works...other throw away. youll need to take it out and then figure out where you want to run your cable...glove box or center thing where ever

Thanks!!!

When I pony up enough cash for this I think I will be going with the USA Spec model from Cruthchfield - spend for sure, but if it all goes to pot I know I can return/exchange hassle free.

ya that sounds right..i have the usa spec one...if you use your ipod as much as i do..its worth it...no fm noise..no worrying about radio stations..its quality sound. good luck on it let me know if have other questions or help needed
