Found rat poop on my battery!

Ok, so I checked under my wife's hood today and found evidence of a rat hanging out on the warm battery in the cold vegas nights. Decided to look under my hood and sure enough the same evidence there too!

Can't have this! Won't have this! Need to have revenge!

What are my options to make sure these little bastards go look for a different place to warm up at night?

Or you could connect some bare wires to the battery terminals and hope the rat completes the circuit and gets fried but then you risk burning your whole truck down...hmmmm. Maybe not then

Rat poison packs, on every flat spot you can find. There is too many wires to risk rats.

I'm curious how you know they're rats vs mice, but that's not my point.

Mice in your vehicle WILL lead to serious problems. They will nest, they will breed, and they will chew everything.

Do not however, resort to poison. They will crawl somewhere else IN YOUR VEHICLE to die, rot there and your life will be miserable.

Use spring traps baited with peanut butter. Set them every evening, check them daily, keep setting them.

Poison is not a good option, if you have pets one of them may find a dying mouse or rat and eat it, then your trouble really starts.

Use a spring loaded trap baited with bacon. Nothing can resist the smell of cooked bacon. Wrap raw bacon around the spring load release and use a heat gun to cook it onto the load release or cook the bacon in the microwave and use thread to tie it to the load release.
If you have a mouse, it will usually lick the peanut butter off most of the time without setting off the trap.
If you have a suspect a rat, I would secure the trap to something so that it can't crawl off with your trap if it isn't killed immediately.

You need to get rid of them right away. They will cause massive damage to your vehicle by chewing up your wiring and hoses. Those little buggers caused over $1500 worth of damage to the MIL's car.

Put some traps out yesterday. Nothing yet. Will clean out the engine today too and see if he's just avoiding the traps.
