Found the leak.

I've been smelling anti-freeze for a little while at stops when the heater is running and the engine is warm. I've also seen steam coming from under the hood when I turn the runner off (only in winter). I only drive the truck a couple times a month because I ride my bike everywhere else. I'm in the process of changing the exhaust gaskets when I found where I think the leak is. See pictures. What should I do about this? EDIT: It's a 22re with unknown miles (previous owner swap.)

Also, any tips or tricks for reinstalling the manifold?

That looks like the pipe that comes in behind the water pump. Only way to fix that leak is to take off the pipe, clean up the flange and install a new gasket. We had the same leak yesterday on TOYMINATOR's 22RE engine install. We figure that there must be a piece of trash in between the gasket and the flange.

Exhaust manifold is pretty straight forward. Just make sure you clean everything up real well and install a new gasket. If you are installing a new manifold/headers it should have come with all the gaskets.

Thanks helo-mech. I should be able to find that coolant gasket at an Autozone, eh? Also, how do you suggest I clean the block and mani? Would a wire handbrush be too abrasive? Again, thanks.

I would be surprised if you find that gasket at a parts store, but you might. A wire brush would prob be OK, just don't go crazy. I'd start with a green pad and some degreaser. Make sure you don't drop a lot of crap down into the block.
