replaced one with an autoparts store filter, now it smells fine.

Holy shnit, man! That is one dirty cabin air filter!

I replace my cabin and engine air filter every year and both times I have done it so far, the cabin air filter has been MUCH dirtier than the engine air filter. From now on, I am going to change the cabin air filter twice a year.

i don't think the previous owner ever replaced it, 120k freak'n miles with kid and dog.

good thing is has included a brand spanking new set of OEM seat covers when i bought it. i have removed the seats and pulled the carpet shampoo'd hell of them. now it's all good.

You said it G.I.G.....thats bad.....I just buy house air filters from Home Depot and cut like six filters out of it and replace them when needed.....Probably every six months....

I tried that after reading threads on this board suggesting it, but the filters created from the furnace filters were much more restrictive than the OEM cabin filters, adversely affecting heat output.

I just got tired of paying the high $ for the stock one's, they work for me.....living out here in CA i'm not even sure I have a heater, so it works for me... :bigok:

You can find replacement cabin air filters for as little as $6.00 on ebay. I'm using one now and looks exactly like the original.
