FourWheeler: Xterra & Frontier Best Value 4x4

Hey all,

I just read on an Xterra forum that the latest FourWheeler magazine named both Xterra and Frontier best value 4x4 on the market. I think that FourWheeler is referring to the OFF-ROAD (Xterra) and NISMO (Frontier) packages.

I can't find any links yet to confirm above info.

Yeah, i wonder about that too. As far as i know, there is NOT a huge aftermarket support for Nissan off-roaders...not nearly as much as Toyota Tacoma and FJ Cruiser. But, i guess that these Nissans are cheaper than the Toyota counterparts. I need to go out and read the magazine to see what their criteria was.

I'm not knocking Nissan at all. Or any other vehicle that wins anything , but sure think its biased. ( except when a Toyota wins )...........LOL

Just my gut feeling , but always fun to read never the less.

Funny, the domestic truck owners cry bias every time a Japanese truck wins a comparison. I don't think there is any bias. Perhaps in this comparison, the Nissans actuall performed better. Since they are talking value I imagine they figured in "bang-for-the-buck" and in this case I'd have to agree with them. The Nissans are less expensive than the Toyotas and are equally as capable off-road given a competent driver. Still, I would not buy one.

Those car rags wouldn't sell if they were honest and just gave all Toyotas the nod.

Toyotas still are ranked across the board as being solid vehicles so it's silly to get all uppity everytime something else is ranked above a 'yota.

I know that the exterior and interior designs of the Frontier leaves a lot to be desired, but i really do dig it's mechanicals and frame!

IMO, regardless of what the critics say, the ultimate decision is in the consumer and where they choose to spend it their money. If all these other vehicles were that much better, Toyota wouldn't being moving towards becoming the biggest automaker in the world. The mags only help those who are completely clueless about vehicles or are undecided and need a worthless second opinion.
