I have a fram in mine, i bought the standard fram filter at wal mart, works fine.

I had an air hog in my '94 4x4 and it worked for a while, I upgraded to a K&N CAI when I replaced the stock exhaust with headers and such so hard to say how long the air hog would have lasted.
it wasn't bad but for very little more you can buy a K&N drop in which I personally think is the best route if you are don't want CAI.
I was going to say that eveyone is hating, but you asked for opinions, u got 'em.

The Airhog is just another version of a K&N style cotton-media filter...which has alot of haters around these parts, so expect some paper-filter lovers in here yapping about how cotton filters don't filter so great. I'm gonna stay out of this one this time though...
Once saw a cross section of a used fram oil filter when I worked for the parts store, haven't bought anything fram since. If you like the idea behind the Airhog then get an Amsoil or K&n. If it's the price you like get a regular ol wix filter, that'll work just as well for much cheaper. In the end though it's totally up to you.

I have the air hog filter. It was installed by the PO. It seems to be fine but like all the discussions about K&N filters with the 4runners the MAF is close to the filter so there's a chance that the oil from the filter will dirty the sensor. Once that "hog" gets dirty and needs cleaning I'll probably just go back to a regular filter. To me there's no sense in taking a chance it will dirty up the MAF and cause performance issues. I really don't think the filter adds any power to the engine. The only advantage is the clean and reuse part.
