frame interchange

I'm having zero luck here on search function. Anyone point me in the direction of which 4x4 frames can be swapped out from year to year, for example will a 1996 frame swap out to 2000 frame or a 2002 swap with a 1998? Was it singtoe (sp) who did the V8 swap? Soemone here did a body take off and either restored a frame or replaced it.

I think 99+ got an extra body mount - more or less under the b-pillar.

Not much help, but that's all I know. I'm not even sure if the 99+ needs that mount on the frame or not, or if it is just there for some crash test scenario that doesn't really practically matter in real life.

I swapped an '02 4x4 into a '99 4x4, no issues. 2wd is different than 4wd.

The #2 body mount is different but it bolts up just fine.

He's right about the earlier frames lacking that center body mount. I also suspect it's no big deal.

JohnMc - Thanks I'll make a mental note of that location

TheDurk - I was looking at a 1999 4x4 that the owner said needed a frame
otherwise it was a nice looking truck. When I actually looked at it the underbody sheet metal was mostly trashed, so this is more academic than and issue at this point. Just for laughs I priced an OEM frame 9K :lmao: Might still be a good option for parts tho, so we'll see. TheDurk, I'll work my way through your frame swap thread, thanks again.

Anyone know where there are frame diagrams available?
