Frame rust... how long do I have?

I've heard that rinsing with PLAIN WATER helps, but not to use SOAP, as that can react with the road salt/de-icer and make it worse. Shrug. Maybe just a myth.

We don't get snow here very often, but I rinse the underside as soon as possible after the roads clear of the de-icer.

CJM's rust is fixable. The rust on Monty's is a lot tougher. Almost anything can be accomplished with a welder and metal but that's a lot of fabrication there which is costly. I think I'd try and find a donor piece to cut off at your nearby junk yard to weld onto this truck.
