Frazier Park Area off Grapevine in CA

These pics are from a month or two back. Did an overnight out there stayed at Half Moon. I was actually quite blown away with the scenery out there. It's beautiful terrain. Wide open meadows meet steep rocky cliffs. And a sprawling, mostly dry this time of year, Piru Creek. I can't wait to venture back when there is some water and hopefully a fish bite. I'm sure some of you have checked out this area, if not, its close to just about anywhere in So Cal and IMO well worth it. Saw one other group of campers, other than that, no one for miles. Enjoy.

Wow, that looks like fun, and you took a brand new car off-road!

Do you think I could tackle that with 2WD? I would love to do something fun with my 4Runner and it looks like it's not far from here.

It looks more off road than it really is. I drove back on a dirt road for more than 10 miles, it was in perfect shape. You'd have no problems in 2WD. In fact, driving out the first evening we saw about 400 head of cattle in a meadow about 9 miles back. When we drove out in the morning they were gone. Caught up with the herd about a quartermile before the main street. Being driven out by cowboys on horseback. There was a rancher following them in a full size truck pulling about a 25 foot trailer too. So yeah I think you'd be fine. If you plan on staying out there, be forewarned that the campgrounds are "pack it in pack it out" and there is no water, pit toilets.

I wanna go back now.
