I purchased a 30 day AutoCheck account and I want to extend this service to you all.

I'll check any VIN# for you. Send me a private message and your email address that way I can send you the vehicle history.

This is not a scam. I'm only trying to save people a few dollars who need to run a vin # before they buy.

If my post violates any terms or conditions of this site, I will delete my post, or the moderators can.

FWIW, I believe him. I don't think he's scamming anyone, seeing as how he made a thread a couple days before this one in a different section, asking about buying a 4runner, which usually means doing Carfax reports. Sounds like he got the 30 day unlimited package.

My apologizes. I just assumed, since I saw he only had 5 posts. On others forums that's usually a telltale sign. FYI though, I believe it does violate site rules. The rules are listed in this General Discussion folder.

I sent a PM, you're more than welcome to ignore it if you're too busy, especially since I'm not actually buying anything... but I never did look up the history and one is even a salvage title car.

Am I wrong to think that:
"11. No Links / Discussion / Promotion of Illegal Activities
This includes, but is not limited to, links / discussion / promotion regarding software piracy (including duplication of Toyota Navigation DVDs) and Carfax requests on records of a particular VIN, etc."

It appears this topic is a DISCUSSION of a company that checks VINs....Do I really care, no. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding Rule #11. If so, I apologize.

I'm not so sure he's doing anything illegal but either way he's doing people here a favor.

Seriously, the guy is trying to help people, cut him a break. If you don't wnat his help no one is forcing you to ask for a VIN check, leave the guy alone, stop crapping on a thread where someone is trying to be nice, and let the mods (above) do their jobs :police:
 
Ok, I do apologize for misunderstanding the rule. I know guys did this in the past for Carfax, and that's why Carfax changed their policy and will actual cancel your account if they feel you're running #s for friends.

I don't think you are too far off on your assumptions...here's autocheck.com's policy on what they consider commercial use:


AutoCheck Terms and Conditions
"Commercial use" is defined as use by persons engaged in the business of buying and/or selling of automobiles, the resale or redistribution of the Reports, or any other business purpose. Any attempt to retrieve AutoCheck® Reports via automated means will be considered commercial use and therefore in violation of the terms of this consumer agreement. Not trying to poop on anyone's parade, but it would probably be best to do this in a more discrete manner :)
 
Now after actually reading the 1st page of this thread and realizing that no one posted any VINs or reports, I take back my comment about doing it more discretely :doh:

Not sure how much more discrete you can get, sorry for butting in, lol
