Finally got around to removing the running boards today.

Really, if you put the running boards on your local craigslist and make some money...essentially you are getting paid for a 'lift' (in your terms of course)

i just sold mine, It was hard for me to part with them at first but i got over it. They took a couple times to list for me but the last time I listed them for $80 and I got $60

Yeah, no they dont sell on CT or NY Craigslist, the local dump happily takes them.

I got $60 as well and it took me quite a bit of time but it worked out. Better to be put to use than sitting on a shelf in my garage

The pics explain it all, looks much taller and cleaner without them.

Plus I never used them, I just banged my shins on them more then anything.

Don't forget ground clearance and those of us who have sliders.

I off road and running boards won't last long on the rocks but most people do it for looks.

1. "Looks more complete" = "looks like a Mall Crawler."

2. If you take your 4runner off road, it's a lot easier to remove the running boards yourself than to let the rocks remove them for you. :

FWIW I only got $20 for mine. Lots of 3rd gen 4runners in CO and nobody wants their running boards.

Sold my Limited running boards on craigslist in a day last year, got $120 for them. Had an interesting time finnagling them into the guy's LS430 haha.
