Free Wheel Balance/Brake Pulsation Analysis App

I have been playing with this free App that gives you a quantitative assessment of vibration associated with wheel balance and/or rotor thickness variation (aka warping) - Smoothride Pro available in the iPhone App store. I used it on a couple of cars, but have not had a chance to try it on my T4R as I am waiting for my injectors to be returned from WitchHunter (fyi, they are again accepting new orders as of 8/12 after being backed up for a while). The App is a promo tool for ProCut which manufactures on-car rotor lathes – I used these lathes in school and took the training – great technology. Thought you folks might find it interesting…..

Oh that is freaking awesome. I was looking for something like this.

There is one I saw on youtube, but they want 400 dollars for the app. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1cr3QaOzGY) which is impractical for a DYI'er.


It can do a little more, and tell you driveshaft balancing etc. but just knowing tire balance and brake pulsing is great. I never understood the tire shops say you need to balance every year. you have no way of knowing if it actually needs it or not. I guess this way we can tell if it is needed or not !
