From Tundra to 4Runner

Hey All. I traded my 2004 Tundra DC Limited on an '06 4Runner Limited. My wife and I have been going back and forth about this since October. We definately like the safety of a 4 wheel drive vehicle in Ohio but the Tundra was such a beast for her to drive. 99% of the time we used it for getting from point A to point B and she was so intimidated by it's size that she refused to drive it. So we began looking at SUVs and after driving most of the mid-sized ones we found the 4Runner won hands down.
I opted for the V6. I agree the V8 is smoother and has more power especially when passing but I found the V6 to be almost as quiet and adequately powerful for what we will use it for.
Anyhow, after lurking on this site for months I can now, as an owner, be a contributer.
BTW, the 4Runner is Titanium with DRL, JBL 6 Disc stereo, spoiler, moonroof and mats. I plan on ordering the chrome exhaust tip and front skid plate soon. Which online retailer has the best prices on accessories?

Congratulations on your new purchase. I suspect that the best place to buy accessories depends on which accessories you want.

I've ordered a number of misc. things (including front and rear Waag bumper guards, rubber floor mats, etc.) from autoanything.com. Good prices and sometimes free shipping.

For Toyota-specific parts (such as the HomeLink console) I've used partznet.com.

I'm sure others will have their own examples and preferences.

I did the same thing last year. I traded in my Double Cab Tundra 4x4 TRD for my 05 4runner. I opted for the v8 since i loved it in the Tundra, and i tow often. It took a while for me to get used to since i could now park in a normal spot, and make a u turn in a street and i could now park in my garage.

I have never looked back.

Congrats on your new 4Runner. What is DTRL? Did you mean DRL and just mistyped?

For Toyota Accessories, I've used trdparts4u.com primarily but have used partznet with similarily good results. Not all places carry everything, so you'll find yourself buying things from different locations. Don't forget about eBay as you can find just about anything.

BurtmanIndustries.com has the expensive, gotta have JDM items so make sure you swing on over (just leave the wallet with the Misses) : unless she already has it of course

You will miss your truck:bash: I know I miss my T-100 there is nothing like having a 6ft bed to put stuff in.

Don't get me wrong I love the 4Runner but I miss having the bed of a pickup.

I wish t have the same problem as you had with your Tundra. My girlfriend loves to drive it and always taking the keys right in front of my hands when we hading somewhere. She is not letting me drive when we are together. My other wish is that next 4Runner will come with a stick. That will be totally my vehicle, because she can

I also traded my Tundra fof a 05 4Runner Sport but I also have a 8"X10" trailer to haul large things.The 4Runner does alot better on fuel than the Tundra.I got the V6.

I have a 5'X8' utility trailer that I bought last year because I was so anal about keeping the Tundra nice. I actually spent less on the trailer (it was used) than I did the Line-X spray on bedliner. The Line-X looked so good I didn't want to scratch it up! I think they call that obsessive-complusive... How well does your V6 pull your trailer? I'll probably use mine mostly for hauling my John Deere garden tractor to my mother-in-law's to mow her yard.

Actually my Tundra had a V8 with a four speed auto tranny,the V6
has a five speed tranny with a lower first gear and actually pulls harder than the tundra did.I could not believe this until I hooked up my trailer up with 3K pounds on it.Remember,the V6 does not
have much less powerful than the V8 and is lighter.I drove a 4Runner with a V8 and could not feel much of a difference in power vs the V6.The 8 is smoother though.
