Front 12V outlet works but rear doesn't

Can someone help me please: My front 12 volt outlet works, and the rear doesn't. So I guess that eliminates a fuse problem because I think they both use the same fuse. Thanks.

this may sound funny, but make sure the outlet is there, not just the cover, the previous owner of mine removed the one in mine & i didnt even know it.

If it's a 4th gen, then they do have seperate fuses. I've blown my rear outlet fuse a couple times. I recall it being a relativly low amp fuse.

I think it is under dash. I recall the label being somewhat criptic. Check your manual for details.

Check the attached diagram. Is this limited to only one accessory? Can you try some other item in the outlet?

They are on the same fuse. Do you have a multimeter or circuit check light? Check for power at the button in the bottom of the outlet by grounding elsewhere. If there's 12V at the outlet then it's a break in the ground. If there isn't 12V then it's a break in the power.

I had this problem right after the XM was installed. The guys didn't plug the wiring harness back in. It is kind of a pain to remove that panel but once it was off...plugged it back in and good to go.

Something to check if someone was messing around back there. Good Luck!

It is the whole panel. In the right rear of the 4R that whole lower panel has to come off for you to be able to plug in the harness. You can remove just the part towards the rear of the truck to see if it is plugged in. Personally I found that it wasn't possible to plug in the harness without removing the panel. The harness is just short enough that you cannot get the length needed to just plug it in and go.

Before you go to that trouble make sure the fuse is good. You don't want to spend the time only to find out that it was as simple as a fuse Also check the circuit with a volt meter at the actual lighter port. If you find there is 12+V there then don't forget to check your device. Most devices have a separate fuse that could be blown... make sure that the device powers on in the working port in the front (or another vehicle) first.

Shuly, I peeked into that panel and there are no wires connected to the 12V socket!

Took the panel off, reconnected the harness, and have 12 volts again!
