Front 4Runner Bilstein 5100 adjustment

My front end seems to be saggin about an inch lower than the rear due to my front armor. I have the Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks on the lowest setting. I was wondering if anyone in the same situation raised them to the middle or tallest setting to fix it. I just don't know how they would ride maxed out. I have the 883 OME medium coils and I know they suggest the lowest setting with lifted coils.

Thanks

they recommend the lowest setting because you should not exceed 3-3.5" on the front due to the cv angles on a 4wd.

x2 ^ measure from center of hubs to fender in same spot on both sides and adjust accordingly not exceeding 3.5" If you are not sure what the original measurement was and you adjust + or - you might want an alignment done.

just my .02

I raised mine up a notch; not sure what notch they are on now but when I moved it up one notch the ride got stiffer. I recommend you only go up one notch at a time; I was really surprised the difference a single notch made.

How much lift does it provide moving it up each notch?

I've been thinking about running these with the 881's I have and want 3 inches of lift in the front.

Adjusting them simply just adds more pre-load to the coil. So since you added more weight, you will effectively be making your coil stiffer by pre-loading it. This is normal.

Well my front ride height has gone down around an inch from what it was before all the additional weight. Instead of making them stiffer by raising them should I put a top out spacer and add back my lost 3/4" to 1"

I have mine set on the second notch to the bottom using Tundra coils and the ride is composed and the stance is perfect fwiw.

Not to reserect an old thread but I'm in the same boat. I already have a 3/8" spacer on top of the adj Billies, the spacer has cracked and need to be replaced. I was thinking about going with a 3/4" front Toytec to compensate and then level my 4Runner.

I have been thinking about swapping my bud built skid out for an Aluminum skid.

I do very little rock crawling, my normal off road is in the desert. The bud built weighs nearly 80 lbs.

I think he quoted me when I asked it's a 20lb. difference IIRC, you could always go back with stock, or look into a lighter gauge AL mockup or even carbon fiber if you can source it.

I bought some 1/4" spacers and put them in there. Didn't seem to do too much but helped a little. I didn't go 3/4 ones cus it requires full disassembling of everything and my passenger strut's top nut/stud is stripped out. If I take it off, it's not going back on lol. I'm either just gonna get coil overs, see if I can fix the top stud, or just order a new billy. Other priorities are first though. My cv angles look fine, I think if I did go with the top out 3/4 spacers it would still be fine.

Sorry I mispoke, it was the 1/2" spacers I was looking at and Toytec said they'd lift about 3/4". Now 1/2" vs. 3/8" isn't much, and my cv angles are fine with this setup. Yes I've wheeled it like this and only broken 1 cv and that was to driver error not the droop.

I just adjusted my 5100's to the second perch and now I'm almost level with my 8.25 wrap LC coils. The rear is 1/2" taller than the front. I haven't had time to drive it but the 1/4" difference in the perch has made a big difference in height. I'm a little worried about my cv angle but we'll see what happens. I'm definitely going to stretch my cv boots this weekend.
