Front Brake Pads

I'm looking to replace the front brake pads (GX460). The OEM pads produce too much black dust. Lexus had a low dust pad replacement for my IS but I don't see one for the GX.

I found these and was wondering if anyone has used them or could recommend any other low dust replacements.

They're rated 10 in terms of brake dust and do show as valid for 2003-2009 GX 470's

Those sound decent... I'd be interested to know how you like those after you put a few thousand on them. My experience with the Toyota pads is they last a long time but do seem to throw a fair amount of dust.

So far put about 1000 miles on them. The first 250 were stanky (passenger even commented they thought something was burning on my 4Runner) but might have been the "silicon anti-squeal" crap I tried to smear all over the outside of the pad. Yeah, it did smell like burning rubber.

However the last 750 have been fine. It's been snowy and rainy here (much like everywhere else I suppose) out west, but haven't noticed a) brake dust b) lack of performance or c) change in performance.

So unless absolutely necessary, just install the pads (come with a new set of anti-squeal shims pre-installed w/o the need to 'goop' them) and enjoy. They are obviously much thicker than the pads you're going to replace, so if you're a DIY, a good pair of channel lock pliers are very nice to have.

And if you're in there... think about painting your brake calipers

Get Raybestos PGD (which is their professional line of brake pads) in either ceramic or semi-metallic. I've used both (currently using the ceramics) and neither of them make much brake dust at all. The OEM 4Runner pads didn't make much dust either, but still I'd have to say that the Raybestos pads dust even less. Plus they are 100% quiet and come with built-in shims.
