SSO Installed this weekend!
Installed on my 2015 Trail. Worked well, with a little blood and sweat but it does more than the job.
The Folks at SSO were very helpful and put out a quality product.
Please forgive my sons hamming it up - but they did all the work on the bumper while I ran the wire for the lights and switch.
Not sure what's next, but I have rigged a wash down system and an inter shelf with a slider.
Thanks to all on this site for the great ideas and technical information. It really did make the work easier.

Man I wish more of them provided a complete bumper replacement. I am going to be severely limited on choices. Oh well.

I am beginning to shop around for a front and rear bumper and maybe the more experienced members on this forum can direct me towards what I am seeking. I have a 2017 Super White TRD Pro and I am seeking a front bumper (preferably Powdercoated White) that allows integrates with the existing TRD branded skid plate. I like the Pelfreybilt but it doesn't appear to do this. Then there is Proline Elite which does allow you to keep the branded oem skid but I don't exactly love the thin integrated leds (prefer the square 3x3 openings).
Any suggestions? Right now the Proline is the only option I have come across that I would consider.

I think your only choices at this point are Southern Style Offroad and C4 Fab.

Got my bumper installed. When the instructions say two to three people needed, well I should have listened. But got it on myself with the help of some beer.
And if anyone is looking for the wiper tank removal and relocation I went with the Shrockworks tank. Sits up in the passenger side fire wall, downfall no dual battery now. (That I can think of)

Man I love that bumper! I'm trying to decided on that or the ARB. Do they make it in an aluminum?

Hi y’all. I own a 3rd gen, but I’m going to help a friend build bumpers for his 5th gen. I’m going to research more, but does anyone have a link to any diy fab for the 5th gen. I don’t want to copy any manufacturer directly, but borrow design elements. This will be a one off job, but any advice or direction would be cool. I’ve built cool stuff before, but this could require more than backyard fab to look and function cleanly. Thanks
TJM Front Bumper vs ARB
I'm trying to decide between 2 front bumpers:
1 - ARB 3421560K DELUXE
ARB 2014 On Toyota 4Runner Summit Bar Kit with Integrit Finish (3421560K)
and
2 - TJM 074ST17A86ZDS
4WD Parts - TJM Bars - TJM Brisbane | TJM Australia
I really like the look of the TJM but understand the ARB is considered the gold standard by many. Does anyone have any experience with the TJM? I searched the forums but couldn't find anything.
Does the lack of hoops on the TJM reduce it's protection power enough to justify paying almost twice the price for the ARB?

SSO slimline steel bumper
Hey guys I’m new to this thread and forums in general as well as a new 4runner owner. I really want to upgrade my front bumper to the SSO with bull bar and possibly get a winch to go with it in the future. I have several questions though. I don’t want to affect the way the suspension is or how the truck handles too much. The rated weight on the SSO says 60lbs (thats about 30 more lbs than stock) will the bumper alone lower my front end or change much? How about If I add another 50-70lbs for a winch? If so what are the best ways and most affordable to keep it as close to it is now as far as height and handling? Thank you anyone in advance, and sorry I’m a newb.

Yes, the bumper/winch combo will make your front end sag (see pic below). I haven't gotten around to upgrading suspension yet, but that's really the only way I see it getting fixed. I'm sure my front suspension is wearing at an accelerated rate due to the weight. It doesn't look terrible, but you'll notice. I imagine that the dip will be dramatically less without the winch though, but I've had mine in there since I installed the bumper.
As far as handling, you will notice the extra weight as soon as you put it on. You'll feel it when you hit the breaks, you won't stop quite as quickly as you would with the stock bumper. But you get used to it quickly.

Yeah, like I said, it doesn't look bad. The tires are 275/70/17 KO2s, so the bigger tire size along with the sag really fills out the wheel well and kind of makes it appear to sit even lower. Looks fine, but a lift will make it look much better.
There are a lot of threads on this site that detail suspension upgrades, I'd recommend looking through those. Part of the reason why I haven't gotten around to that yet is because I haven't done enough research to figure out what I want. I'm not knowledgeable enough to give advice on the subject, so I'll defer to others who have done their due diligence. For what it's worth, I've been eyeing the Toytec Boss 3" kit.
Also, as a side note, the winch has literally paid for itself after a couple of uses when I got in a bind, can't recommend it enough.
