Front courtesy/map dome light

99 4Runner Ltd. I just realize that when opening the front doors, the lights do not turn on? The switch works, I can manually turn them on and off. Any suggestions?

If you are talking about the maplights between the visors, I don't think those are designed to turn on and off with the doors. On my 2000 4runner, those turn off and on individually.

The standard dome light is farther back, above the back end of the center console, with the traditional 3-way switch- "on", "off", "on when a door is open".

On my 88 4runner, that switch broke off both my original dome light and the junkyard replacement I swapped in. So you might just have the stub of the switch, if yours is broken off.
