Front CV seal leak help..

is it possible that I have a bad axle (its a newly installed reman from advanced )

My axle seal was never leaking gear oil to begin with, I had a torn CV boot and some noise from my driverside CV.

I purchased 2 reman CV axles from advanced (drivers side and pass)

And since the passanger side seal wont stop leaking oil . I reinstalled the CV with a new seal from toyota, and its still leaking.

Am I doing somethign wrong during the install?
Or is something wrong with the CV? out of round? bent ?
anything?


Anyone else experience something like this ?

Leaking cv grease out of a boot ore gear oil out of the diff? If your leaking gear oil you need to make sure your getting the cv all the way into the diff. and you may have way too much oil in the diff as well.

Yes its oil out of the diff. Sorry I forgot to specify.

Its just drivingm me nuts, dont think theres to much oil.
I mean you fill untill it starts to pour out with the car on level ground. right ?
took 1 qt into the t-case..

I know this sounds obvious, but make sure youre installing the seal in the right direction and precisely the right depth. When I removed the factor seal, it was concave out, with the copper visible. The new seal installs concave in, showing rubber side out. Install depth is 5.5mm from outer edge of diff tube....you can almost push it in by hand.

Any chance of something being bad or wrong with the axle ?

Ive never had a issue like this before and have done cv oil seals on many other vehicles...

I was thinking the same thing as J-money$$$. Make sure you wack the axle all the way in using a prybar on the inside flange of the axle and a hammer. You have to seat the c-clip inside the splines of the diff. If it's seated correctly you won't be able to pull it out by just yanking on it with your hands.
