front D ring mounts

If they need to be modified or I need to make another design let me know. I can draw up some plans if needed. My truck is stock, but pictures may help, or if someone wants to take measurements and let me know.

Alright, anyone have an suggestions on how to get these damn bolts off. I've tried using a pry bar and a small impact gun and NOTHING! Those suckers on are there and not wanting to come off. Driving me crazy cause I want them off!

Get a long cheater bar and strong wrench. Get a rope, tie the end of the cheater bar to a large tree, drive backwards a little bit. :)

Shackles came in today! I have additional sets of brackets made up also.

Here are a few pics with them on the truck with the shackles. These are unpainted:

Are you turning it clockwise?

(Ha, j/k, had to ask!)

:wink2:

They're finally on!

So after having a lot trouble getting those damn bolts off the original tow hooks, I finally gave up and ran by a local shop. They got them off in less than 2 minutes and did it FREE of charge! So here they are boys:

Thanks! I actually ordered them as a pair off Ebay. The box they came in was actually from Rugged Ridge so it must be there "Ebay store" that they are selling these through. Here's the link:

Universal D-Ring Shackle Pair 3/4 inch: eBay Motors (item 310211569581 end time Sep-01-10 10:50:12 PDT)

I decided that I wanted them to be a color that would stick out more and be more noticeable to so I painted them Red. It was a really simple process that took very little time (besides drying).
1) Primed them with self etching primer- 2 coats
2) Painted them with VHT Real Red caliper paint- a few coats
3) Threw a quick coat of clear coat over 'em and am super happy how they turned out
-I had all this stuff laying around the garage so it worked out nice that I didn't have to buy any of it!

All ordered sets have gone out. I have one more set on my, and an extra set of shackles. I may paint the bracket black since it's blasted and ready. Anyone want a set?

I'd be interested in a set of shackles, can you ship with my brackets?

If you guys are having trouble with stuck bolts, hose them down with PB blaster and give them a day to soak. Then hit them up again about 30 minutes before you try to remove the bolts. I did that on my suspension and all the bolts that were crusty came out pretty easy.

I painted some silver which I think also look good with the silver shackles.

BTW, I know some have rear hitch mounted shackles, but is anyone interested in rear shackle mounts? There are places on either side of the trailer hitch, or can also be bolted on if you don't have a hitch.
