front diff oil coming out breather hose ??

Hi Guy’s looking for answer on why diff oil coming out breather hose, on 1996 4runner. never had any problems with diff before. Then out of the blue oil coming up and out breather hose.

Did you recently drain and refill the diff? Has any work been performed on the axle recently?

If so, you might have simply overfilled the differential with oil.

No haven’t done any thing to diff for a while, last checked oils OK last fall and all was good.. Just got up on ramps now and going to have a better look at things, cant think of why it would overflow, hope it not getting to hot from over heating bearing or some thing.

Well, sometimes the air lock can get clogged with gunk. Try pulling the lock and hose (if one is present) and cleaning them...

Took breather hose off and cleaned it up and cleaned breather cap, topped up gear oil and will have to take it out for a run to see if anything comes out breather again, hopefully not.!
