Front dinging clunking sound.

Hey Everyone! I've been searching and checking everything I could on the truck. I'm stumped....

So here is the problem, the sound is a mix of clunk and ding. Happens when I hard break or accelerate, sometimes when I'm turning either way.

Also there is a loud clunk when I shift into D or R, I don't know if thats normal or may be connected to the other problem.

I have inspected the U-joints and seems like no play there, they've been greased 10k ago. Is that overdue? How often do I need to grease them?

Engine mounts seem fine, no excessive engine movement when shifting gears. Tranny mount not sure, i was just laying on my back under the rig and tried lifting the tranny with my hands and there is a small play in the mount and once I did that I heard a ding coming somewhere from the engine/front diff side, tried it again and no sounds.

I have recently replaced all body mounts(no body lift). Steering rack and tie rods replaced 15k ago. Also sway bar bushings and links are new.

I have a toytec boss lift which I put in last year and the driver side shock is already leaking. No diff drop installed. I'm running 31s with spidertrax spacers if that helps.

One more thing, theres a vibration I get going 90-100 km/h. Also a little droning at 3krpms. Its like an engine vibration felt in the floor, steering wheel, 4wd shifter.

Thanks for any help!

Either upper control arm joints, or lower ball joints. I had a similar problem. There would a clunking noise when turning back and forth. I replaced my old UCA with BUILT RIGHT UNIBA UCA, and when I took the sock UCA of. I could loosen the bolt with my fingers!!!!! Yea scary I know !!! Try and really shake the wheel while its on the ground and look closely at the upper ball joint nut. Also what about your steering rack bushings ?

Steering rack bushings are good since I replaced the whole rack not long ago.

I got the light racing UCAs installed with the boss lift last year which came with new ball joints. Lower ball joints seem ok since theres no play in them at all. I'll check out the ubj nut as you've said.

Ubjs seem to be ok, i tried just shaking the truck from side to side and I can hear the sound coming from somewhere but hard to tell where. I need to get my buddy to shake it while I look.

So I tracked it down to the LCA bushings. I've read its a PITA to replace them. Have anybody tried aftermarket LCAs? They're pretty cheap and come with new bushings. I'm not going to replace it myself so I'm just wondering if the labour for replacing the bushings is going to be cheaper than swapping control arms and just paying for the parts.

It is very much a pita to do.. I had to burn the rubber out heat up the inner sleeve and hit out with a chisel.. If I didn't have friends with tools I would of bought OEM LCA. If you need to find bushings look up white line bushings
