I can tell you from experience that the fabric bras are a pain in the butt. They will damage paint in two ways - 1) flapping in the wind, 2) water/heat damage from leaving a wet bra on the hood and letting it bake in the sun.

Sure, you can remove it when it's wet but where are you going to hang it?

If you don't like the bug shield, go for the 3M protective coating.

I haven't seen one with it. For me, it was already too late to get the 3M clear bra since I already accumulated so many chips, so i just went with the hood protector. I plan on repainting my front end in a few years.

If I could of done it in the beginning, I would've gotten the clear bra.

Ebay has a few, my mom and grandma just got some for there runners. Let me know and I'll give you the email of the guy that sold the bras to them.

The clear bra also has limitations. It doesn't deflect the stones like the bug shield. That means, you still get chips farther up the hood. I have one now after only 3000 miles. Don't know if it would've been avoided with a deflector. Oh well, it's a car, it's going to get some dings. Best not to cry about them.

Here you go. This is a colgan custom bra. It's a perfect fit. Comes with a five year guranteed. Check out there web site for more info. They also make side mirror covers too. Hope you like it...

I got a Toyata one . fit really tight and snug no flaping in the wind! I only use it on long trip because of bugs, rock and shit. save me alot of time washing shit loud of bugs off the bummper!

Guys with bras - make sure you take them off when they are wet, especially if the car is going to be in the sun. All that moisture, heated up will affect the paint. I had a bra on a CRX and after a year, I could see fading in the red paint where the bra covered it. I also noticed some wear on the fender where the very tight elastic touched the car. It was like an imprint of the fabric.

tkr128,
There are companies out there that can airbrush the small pits/chips in the front end of your 4Runner and you'll be hard pressed to find the damage. Talk to your local dealer or try giving the folks at the closest AEROCOLOURS a call and get a quote. I had a scratch repaired on the tailgate for about $40.

You can also order custom spray cans of OEM quality touchup paint (if you know your paint code) at http://www.paintscratch.com

Your JAOS looks great! But, that bra........I guess I just don't like them on any SUV. If it is for purely functional off-roading purposes then I can understand it, but not for looks or daily use.

I had one for my mustang for 10 years and only used it three times. Mainly for looks and once for in the snow. It was a PITA to take on and off and when you wash your car it is best to remove it. Once mine was off it stayed off, mainly because of the hassle of taking it on and off everytime it rained or needed a bath.

Thanks for the suggestion! But, my whole bumper is covered with them. I don't know how I get them, I don't tailgate and I'm very careful of where/how I drive. It'll be easier to have my bumper repainted in the future. I do have a few paint chips around the car that sound like good candidates for airbrushing. Thanks again!

DO NOT GET THE TOYOTA BRA! I did and it was fine for a few days. Then, on one hot summer day (around 100 here in Northern CA) the fabric got soft enough to start to flap on the top of the hood. I think the little ridge of a spoiler they ahve is not enough when the fabric stretches. Also, where the driving lights are they should have a little tab to go in behind the lights. I noticed at speed the bra fills with air ont he outside of the lights and down the side of the bumper. this means dirt wil get in there and scratch the paint. If you do not live in a hot climate maybe go for it. I returned mine though.

Agreed Biff. I think we need to stick to the more expensive clear bra's. THey are amazing in the way they work and are not really visable.

How did you get that thing on??? I can't get the lower section to come even close to fitting. I'm going to send mine back if they'll let me.
