Front left caliber locked up..

yesterday i was leaving work to go meet some friends for dinner, a good 8 mile drive, a drive pulled up beside me about a mile from the resturant and said your tire is on fire,:wow2:so i just happed to be in front of the fire dept i volunteer at so i pulled in and took the garden hose to it. took off the tire and the rotor was cherry red everything smoking..just a mess. :redbrick:

Goodness! Thankfully it sounds like no one was injured. Situations like this should definitely be reported to Toyota U.S.A. (or Canada), as well as NHTSA (or Transport Canada).

The more we report this frozen brake caliper issue, the more likely Toyota will finally admit that this is a serious safety concern and issue a safety recall.

This worries me much more so than floor mats!

I had to change both out at 140K miles.....the lower piston was frozen and could not be pushed back in when I did the pads.....

I have to ask, you didn't notice the vehicle pulling to the left? Glad you and your 4runner are ok.

yeah it was starting to pull, right before i realised what was going on
