Stupid question, but after reading the manual found on this forum it states i should use self tapping (drilling) screws for the bumper and to not drill.

First of all are self tapping and drilling screws the same thing just different terminology?

Second if your not supposed to drill into the bumper as stated in the manual how the heck do you get the self screw into the dimple?

That sounds about right. The dealers usually put them through the dimple to put on their dealer plates. I don't know where they get the screws but they have a lot of them.

I don't have dimples anymore. I made the dealership repair and repaint my bumper before I would accept the 4R they had transferred for me.

Self tapping cut their own threads. Self drilling kind of have a drill tip on the front and cut their own threads as well.

I really can't see why you couldn't drill a pilot hole and screw into them.
