Front Plates, Yay or Nay?

I'd lose the frame but isn't a front plate mandatory in Cali? It is here but it's not strictly enforced.

If a front plate is mandatory, I would just leave it on. It isn't worth the trouble. You will also have two holes in your bumper from where the plates were mounted.

In my 50 years in Mont. Co, CA, I never ran a front plate on 3 different cars. '83 Firebird looked the best. Probably ran out of luck now.

while in CAli, I never got around to mounting a front plate. And no one ever pulled me over for it. Barracuda and Firebird models.

Yep, CA law requires FRONT and rear plates. That's why they give you two. Trust me, my wifes drones on about this all the time. She is with CHP & DMV. My uncle is CHP and loves to write up drivers for not having front tags. I guess it also depends if the officer feels like wasting time and is anal about such things. Then again CA has some really strange (and sometimes stupid) rules. I would just leave them on, besides, that's a cool frame! Adds character.

It is required to have 2 here in Missouri as well, that is why I am going to register my vehicle in Louisiana, only 1 plate.

No one in my immediate family has ever had a front plate on any of our cars and none of us has ever been pulled over for it. I'm not going to ruin my property for a stupid license plate. That's my .02...

Just leave it on... not a fan of the frame though... the 4runner shows the holes and IMO it doesn't look too good without anything on the front... but on my G35 i don't have a front plate, there are no holes at all so it looks good, i do have a plate holder just in case...

When i was in Cali, i got pulled over and it was just a fixing ticket (no fines). Then when i got to CO, again i got pulled over and it was also a fixing ticket. It's a pain in the b*tt (time and effort) to show up at court just to show the judge that your plates are in-place. So i just kept it on since then.

I think front plates look good. I personally am just not a fan of the Palm trees but its not my truck either and your entitled to do what you want. I just have a college plate on mine because GA doesnt require front license plates.

I'm in Southern California and I currently do not have front license plate on or showing.
I did have a problem once; driving home with my brother and 2 gf's in back we passed a cop a little after midnight, he u-turned and pulled me over because of no license plate on front.

He used it as an excuse, he checked our redbulls by sniffing them for vodka.
I was driving my MarkVIII at the time.

I would recommend you leave them on if you don't want to be hassled.

Dude i have got pulled over for not have a front plate!!! Can you believe that!! And it was not even in the Celica or Runner it was in a JEEP!!!!!

cops in california really like to get you when you park at the airport without a front license plate. LAX is one of the worst. Heck, even my university will write you a ticket for no front plate, they must make thousands a year off of it.

Illinois goes one step further. The law requires front plates and it can't be covered even with the clear shield. I'm meeting the state half way on this law. I have a front plate with dark shield on front and back.
