Front Receiver

Anybody know if there is a front receiver available for 4th gen 4Runners?

I have a Warn winch in a carrier. On vehicles past, I've used it in both front and rear receivers. It makes offroading in a single vehicle much less risky, as you can pull yourself through or back out of just about any situation.

Warn doesn't yet have an application, nor does Hidden Hitch. I had a front receiver fabricated for my last truck, a Disco II. Anyone with welding skills interested in tackling this project?

Nope nada zip zilch.

Just find a welder to make something for ya. (just make sure the mounting is strong enough so you don't tear/break anything.)

Front End

I assume the 4runner front end (frame, bumper, etc...) isn't the same as the Taco, then. Right?

04 or 05 taco? the 4R will be similar to the 05 Taco in lots of ways, but not the 04 or earlier.

I'll start to explore the fabrication route. If I end up going through with it, I'll be sure to post pics.

I may just try to have patience, stick with using the rear receiver for now, and see if draw-tite or hiddenhitch come out with a unit.

just have it custom made.

i was in the same process a few years ago.

i knew i wanted a removable winch.

back then, there werent any premade stuff.

fortunately, had a fmaily friend who was an excellent welder and fabricator.

I have looked at Hidden Hitch, Curt, Draw Tite, Valley Industries, and Reese and have not found a front receiver hitch for the 4th gen 4Runners. Did you ever have one fabbed or find a pre-made one?

In the JCWhitney Catalog, there is one listed for 03-06 4Runners...front hitch.

Hmm that is interesting. I do not have a printed catalog. Does it says who makes it in the printed catalog?

I contacted Hidden Hitch earlier this week and they say they do not have a front hitch for the 2003 4runner so I am thinking this is a mistake by JCWhitney.
