front seat creaks

i'm sure i'm not the only one with this problem. the vinyl sides of the front seat upholstery rub against the plastic trim pieces and cause a constant annoying creaking sound (see pic). my instinct is to whittle away the plastic trim with a utility knife, but that could give me a sharp edge that might damage the vinyl. i wonder if anyone else has done a successful mod to correct the problem?

You could use some simple felt padding to stick to the side of the seat between the two, or even the soft side of velcro I've found useful for similar situations.

And by the way, I've never seen such a seat in a 3rd gen. Those resemble the 2nd gen seats in upholstery...

Here's an example of the Velcro, before I replaced my harmonic balancer, my car shook really bad at idle. The door panels rubbed on the dash and made a really annoying noise. I shut them up with the velcro but then replaced the harmonic balancer which silenced the entire car's rattles.

wonder if i should be worried that my '97 has these kinds of seats?! i guess when you buy a used truck you just never know what they've been through...
