Front Skid Plate and Drag

hey guys,

I wanted to put the front skid plate from Toyota on my 08 SR5. I was wondering if they caused any unnecessary drag/MPG decrease and any wind noise.

No wind noise in mine.

Everything will cause a certain amount of wind drag . Nothing you will ever notice . If you had a brushguard that'd be a different story.

I like the looks , not much protection as far as a skis plate goes , I call it my brush plate and cornstalk catcher...lol

Yeah I agree with Falls. The Toyota skid plates are only for looks. They do look good though, I have one on mine and it makes it look beefier from the front.

But you need those a little bit more than you need a cosmetic skid plate.

On mine I noticed no mileage decrease at all when I installed my faux plate. (it gets removed for off road excursions)

mind you im not going gnarly off road but a little extra protection from anything would be nice...weather its rocks or hard packed sand...hell a steep curb...hah

It's a cosmetic piece. It's almost guaranteed if you run the accessory skid against something, it will push up into your bumper. If you're looking for a solid skid for serious protection, take a look at a Bud Built skid plate.

It's just made from aluminum and won't hold up to any solid hit from anything but they do accentuate the look nicely.
