front spindle

Can someone explain to me what goes through the front spindle. I'm replacing all my front bushings and thought I might do the upper ball joint and front wheel bearings being that I have over 230k miles. I know the bearings need pressed in, but are they pressed into the spindle? It sure would make things easier if they were because I could find a pair at a junkyard, clean them up and have everything set to go back in. I tried looking at the exploded diagrams and they really don't show how all this goes together.

Thanks!

My buddy just did this. Its pressed into the hub assembly. Even with a press he said he had a PITA time putting them in. Glad I was not doing it. LOL. Make sure you use OEM parts.

They press in. You need quite a few specialty tools / plates and such to press the bearings in properly. A HF press and a set of arbors will not get the job done alone :) Several photos and info on my refurb and rework thread on doing a bearing job.

There are also two seals that need to be put in. And IF you decide to keep your dust shields, then I would buy new ones as the stockers will often get destroyed or mangled when pressing the hub out of the bearing.

Last, it is a good time to install new wheel studs.

OEM uses Koyo bearings. I have used these guys several times and have had no issues. Fast shipping and authentic parts.
