Front suspension help

What is the trick to getting the front (stock) coilover off of the truck? :bash: I had the lower a-arm disconnected from the hub, the 3 screws off of the tower, and the nut on top of the shock off. I tried a few combinations and still couldn't seem to get it out. I tried using coil compressors too and that didn't work. Anyone have any ideas?

You probably just didn't crank the coil compressors enough. You can always use your bottle jack to help push the arm down. If you get enough space, it's possible to get it out without a spring compressor.

replace the center nut at the top and crank it down. that will keep the assembly together and it will come right out. there is no need to use a spring compressor to remove the entire assembly.

I had to pop the upper ball joint then it was easy. Use the correct puller not a fork. Look at the pic about 3/4 of the way down. If you're doing it this is a good read... http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42630&perpage=40&pagenumber=1

Thanks for the help guys. Finally got the job done. Took me about 3 hours now that I know what I am doing. I had to disconnect my sway bar and use a lever on the lower ball joint to push it down. That gave me enough clearence. Thanks again for the help.

I have never been up mt waldo. Can you give me directions or an address for the garmin? How technical of a drive is it? (can I bring the wife and kids or do I need backup?)

if you take the tyler ln (frankfort) entrance, it is an easy access road followed by the climb up. you could bring the family, it is not too technical because there is plenty of room to avoid certain obstacles.
