Front sway bar removal

I hope I am not beating a dead horse here but I am thinking about removing my front sway bar like I had dome to my Tacoma. I had noticed on my Tacoma a slight increase in body roll exiting the interstate but as far as the drive goes, it was just like having an IFS. It did make a positive difference!

I am curious to see if anyone else has removed their sway bar or know of anyone that has removed it on their 4th gen. 4Runner? I also have a suspension "knock" just like I had on my Tacoma and when I removed the sway bar, the "knock" went away. Just looking to see if anyone has any pros or cons they would like to share. Thanks!

Ive had mine off for quite some time and I am happy with the ride. Like you mentioned, there is a little more body roll but so long as you drive your 4runner like its a 4runner it shouldnt be a problem. I have heard that its best to do this with coilovers as opposed to the stock struts, I cannot comment on this as I have only experienced a rollbar-less 4runner with my 2.5 fox coilovers and TC UCAs installed.

**UPDATE** I removed the sway bar earlier and I must say...WOW...should have done that a long time ago. The truck rides sooo much better. Highly recommend it! It also got rid of the "clanking" sound everytime I go over a bump in the road, so it was definitely tied into the sway bar. :guitar3:

I may be showing my ignorance here, but what sort of ride do you get without the front sway bar? Is this for on road or off road driving?

It allows for a smoother ride since each side will be able to cycle independently of the other. For example, if you go over a pothole on your right side, it will jerk the truck less because it's isolated to the right side and no longer connected to the left.

Downside is your truck will feel wobbly in turns with significantly increased body roll, and if you ever made any sort of jerky maneuver (avoiding an object, animal, child, vehicle, etc) the truck is much more unstable and flops around. It's much less controllable.

I have had mine off multiple times. I currently have mine on.

Need help!

I had a clanking noise every time I went over a speed bump or dip I removed my sway bar and now I feel a rumbling while accelerating and turning..

I just recently upgraded my suspension to a 3" OME lift with light racing UCAs. After the lift the car was fine but alignment was off due to my LCA being bent. I replaced my LCAs and threw in new sway bar links and cv axels at the same time. After all that was installed is when the clanking started. It was mostly while on the hwy at speeds over 60 that I would hear a clanking over bumps. Any input would help thanks!
