I surf fish and have a front rod/cooler rack that I took off my Tahoe. I would like to get a hitch receiver installed in the front of my T4R so I can use this rack rather then buying a swing out for the rear. Anyone have any experience with front hitch receiver installation?

That's sarcasm, right? Of course we would, while we still can. They're trying to ban a lot of our beach driving here in NC...But hey, for the salt and sand, there's a thing called a garden hose and water (or in my case, a pressure washer)...I've been beach 4wheeling for decades and never had a single rust issue - or paint issues either. The only folks you see with those issues are folks that never clean their rigs after going out on the beach, or those vehicles that have been doing it routinely for 25+ years.
Besides, his post is timely. January is usually a prime time for the Striped Bass run down here (they run here from Canada). Given the temps this year, they (the fish) should still be out there, in decent numbers. Surf fishermen do pretty well when the run is strong. I generally split my time between surf fishing and going out with the fleet from Oregon Inlet on very cold, early mornings, in my center-console boat (out to the 3 mile line anyway - I'm no poacher...). I haven't had the time to hit them yet this year - but I usually take the week after Christmas off to go out there and try my hand at them. We caught several 40+ pound stripers last year off the boat and numerous 10+ pound fish off the beach (our state record is 62 pounds - I was out fishing the same day in 2005 that it was caught). Honestly, I worry more about dealing with the inlet when in my boat than I do any salt or sand issues on my 4x4s. Oregon Inlet is, or certainly can be, a boat/man killer if you don't know what you're doing and/or the weather and tide is working against you.

I'm interested as well. I think someone makes one for 05+s, but not my 04.
I don't have any points on where to find a front hitch, but did have another thought. How much worse, really, is driving a new 4Runner on the beach than it is "up North", or anywhere really, where they are routinely spraying 'brine' on the roads during the winter to counteract snow and ice?
