For Bearings? Wow... interesting, I don't recall Toyota every really using Moog as a factory parts supplier. Ussually it's Asin, Koyo, and/or Denso for most of their hardware stuff like that.
Not stripped, but it started to crossthread. I cleaned threads up but the bolts went in really tight and I'm sure they won't come back out. As many issues as I've had I'm just going to replace the whole spindle. Hopefully that fixes the issue.Spacers bring me business. Are you saying that one of the four hub bolt holes is stripped?
I would helicoil at a minimum or grab that used spindle if it's in good shape.

Toyo meaning Toyota? That would be the Moog bearing.
Longevity depends on the installation as well. If you don't torque the axle nut the bearing will fail prematurely.

Sounds like cv axle.So I finally got some time and jacked up my 4runner. Held the tires at 12 and 6 and there was virtually no play at all. Spinning the wheels passenger side had a slight click every revolution. Drivers side clicked through the whole revolution. So looking for opinions. It could be the drivers side going. I do notice that on the road if I get the steering wheel in the middle on a straightaway, the noise lessens, but moving the wheels to the right or left increase it.
Soooo I found it. After my test drive, jacked up the passenger side and spent a while with it. It was completely quiet so I could listen and feel it. There is a very slight play when rocking at the 12 and 6 positions. Did the same to the drivers side again, nothing. So its the passenger side. Last time I had this, there was a lot more play and was very evident.
This would explain why they said they couldn't fail me for inspection on it. Dealership said there was very little play but it would cost me to find out which one.
I am wondering if my wheel bearing is going out. 4runner has 98k and have been noticing a low pitch squeal only when I am turning right at low speeds. Usually I can hear it more when the 4runner has been sitting for a while. To get out of my garage I need to make a right 90 degree turn. Does that sound like a wheel bearing?
Hi all,
Yes, I have another problem.
My 2005 SR5 4runner is having front wheel bearing issues again. Back in March 2014, I replaced both front driver and passenger side with Bluepit bearings. Now one or both are going, I'm not sure yet. Bluepit only had a 1 year warranty and to me, 2 1/2 years is too short. From the two sites below, it appears that they're selling the hub and bearing separately and I don't have a press to put them together.
Anyone know where I can the whole hub assembly?
Wheel Bearing/Hub Assembly-Front for Cars, Trucks & SUVs
Advance Auto Parts: Search Results for wheel hub bearing
Tanks in advance!!!
If you go to Oreillys they should be able to special order an assembled Dorman hub and bearing. Cost is high around $270 plus shipping and it'll take about a week to get to you

The wheel bearing is supposed to be torqued to 174lbs/ft. If it was over torque and if its under torqued it will destroy the wheel bearing. Over torquing could potentially cause other issues as well. Everytime my bearings go bad the seals are shot too.So I figured I would post an update. Attempted to change the bearing over the weekend and could not get the castle nut off. Myself and another guy, with a large breaker bar and a 10 foot steel pipe could not budge it. Took it to a shop and they used their high impact wrench to get it loose and had them tighten it to about 100 lbs. Then drove it back home and changed out the assembly.
It looked really chewed up in there, the O-ring was shot, the spring that held the inner ring was broken.
I did have a new axle put in a while back, I wonder if they over torqued the heck out of it and could that have caused the bearing to prematurely die? That bearing I replaced was only 2 years old.
Put the new one in and now my 4runner is extremely quiet.

I hear ya. I do stuff myself cause I didn't have the money, but now it's cause I can't trust good mechanics to do their freaking job! I just found the top nut for the balljoint on my spc uca's Wayyyyyy over torqued! Took a 3' breaker bar to get it loose. Supposed to be 150lbs torque... Grrr.I figured as much.
This is why I hate it when I can't do the work myself. I don't have the time or tools to replace an axle.
