front wheel bearings are noisy

Sounds like my front hub bearings are going south. Anyone have any experience changing the front hub bearings? Parts cost? Labor involved? I have yet to score a manual for the truck, but it's on the list.

the front bearings are pressed on. you will need a heavey duty press to get them out... rough est. would be around $300.

Suggestion: Carefully inspect your front tires to see if you can detect any signs of cupping or feathering.

My '98 started making wheel bearing-like noises at about 30K miles. When you looked VERY carefully, slight cupping of the front tire tread could be seen. This turned out to be responsible for the noise.

To double-check, try rotating your front tires to the back and vice-versa. If it's tire noise, it should change when you do this.
