Granted we all don't have the same eye vision but honestly, it is really easy to see at night time. If you ask me, the film tint I have (50% windshield) makes it seem like as if it's factory windshield with zero tint at nighttime. You can tell during the daylight but during nighttime, nope. Not for me at least. No decreased visibility whatsoever. However...I suspect if you get 20%, you can tell during nighttime driving but I don't plan on testing that theory anytime soon :fro: I'm really enjoying my time driving the 4R without being ticketed. Getting 20% windshield might cross the line haha.

Hey dude, do you live in a state that require state tags on the windshield? I.e. state inspection stickers. I was really fortunate to have the shop cut around the sticker's placement (bottom-center of the windshield) because you can definitely tell if the windshield is tinted or not by looking at the sticker (darkened color that looks different from the same standard color used on stickers issued). If you do....you might want to look into getting that done because you can get a ticket just like that. As for that oil change sticker on top left...I recommend you removing that too, lol. keep track of your miles by going into Trip A or trip B and reset the counter then start recording miles from there.

No offense but your picture proves nothing. Yes, I can see that the factory blue strip is still there and much darker looking than the rest of the tint, but I'm assuming you tinted that portion with 50% tint as well; thus, making it 50% darker. Relatively speaking you're not going to notice a difference in pictures since all it did was make everything darker, lol.
Plus, obviously in broad day light you can see just fine with 50% tint, this is the same phenomenon as how most of us that wear sunglasses during the daytime can also still manage to see.
Would you be mad at everyone else if they tinted ALL of their exterior lights by 50% and drive on the same dark road as you in the middle of the night? Because this is exactly what you're effectively doing to the visibility of other drivers at night.
There's a reason why there's tint laws in effect, and it's not to piss on our parade.
I don't think his picture was out to prove anything but a simple following through with a request a few of us made. From the looks of it it does look pretty good during the day visibility wise and at night that may be a different story for some of us. I'm probably still going to look into the 70% over anything lower but I am happy to see a picture at 50%. A night shot with the right camera settings would be interesting but that's easier said than done.

??? Why would other drivers need to be able to see you while driving on the road? Your only job while you're a driver is to pay attention to the road & adhere to traffic signals. You do not need to fulfill the requirement of having to see who you are driving past or alongside or behind you because it is meaningless. Avoid accidents, drive within the speed limit, adhere to traffic laws, and most importantly...arrive at your destination in one piece. As for the police in case you use them as an example...there's a reason why they have spotlights and if they suspect they identified someone that might be wanted driving in a vehicle, they can always pull up alongside them & glance over to the driver and identify from there.

That was not my point, my point is a camera is going to try it's best to expose the scene properly, so if you put the camera behind 0% tint, it will hold the shutter open for X amount of time to capture the right amount of light; and if you put the camera behind 50% tint, it will hold the shutter open for X amount of time plus some more to capture the same amount of light as without the tint. The end result is, the captured photo will look virtually identical regardless of if you are behind 0% tint or 50% tint.
Unless you have a side by side comparison being shot at the same exact shutter speed, you will never notice the difference because the camera processes all the differences out, so to speak.
Go re-read what I wrote. I said being about to see other vehicles on the road, not the driver of the vehicle. If everyone drove around with very dim headlights, turn signals, brakes lights, parking lights, tell me how much harder it's going to make trying to spot them on the road while you're driving at night.

You obviously have never drove anything with the windshield tinted. I assure you I can see just as well as I did before the mod. Just made a trip to windrock through the smokies and I had no issues in the dark with it raining the whole way... and the tint of a regular pair of sun glasses are around 20% or less

Front view of the windshield tint to give you a general idea of how drop dead sexy your 4R can look with 2% front/rear and 50% front windshield.
Either way, I like the way my 4R currently looks with the windshield tint which was the last job I had done in regard to tinting a while back. Oh by the way...I live in Virginia so they only allow 50% front 35% back & no tint allowed on windshield. $96 fine every time for me in Virginia Beach but I haven't been ticketed in like 4-5 years so I guess the city gave up on that cash cow.
That's really surprising as I live in VA beach too, my friends with trucks that have 5 percent in the front two windows get ticketed round the clock. I noticed your picture on top of dicks sporting goods, have yet to see your 4runner around. I think i've only seen one car in va beach with the windshield tinted, that's crazy, it looks good though

If it wasn't for your sig, I would have thought you were a high school student at FC because I saw a 3rd gen with T4R.org pulling into the lot a while ago haha. I do agree with you though regarding cars having windshield tint in VB. Seems like more out-of-state drivers have windshield tint i.e. Florida, TX than local ones. What do you mean you noticed my picture on top of dicks sporting goods? Thanks dude, I'm really satisfied with the paint job which was cheap because my friend paint cars for a living but also does it on the side for cheap! I was nervous about how it would turn out because I followed Javelin's image except I didn't paint my stock rims nor replace it with black ones like he did. It turned out great so I'm pretty happy with it. Looks really badass
