This 1996 Toyota 4Runner Proves IFS Doesn?t Have to Be Weak

I'll cut to the case. From what I hear they might release the kit to public for sale. I'm sure it won't be cheap. However reading that article I am drooling. SAS is out of my league do to lack of garage and because I daily my 4Runner. But to have a beefy , durable, strong IFS would be a dream. I'm sure most members would. Especially beefed up LBJ and UCA. So, I'm wondering if LRORF releases their product, maybe as a kit or whatever. Who would be interested in a group buy. Showing them that a lot of members are interested, would maybe push them into really making the kit and offering us a discount for group buy. It's one in s million.

I emailed them. I'll post update once I receive. Or maybe they will jump on this thread with us and keep us updated.

They have been slowly releasing parts. It takes time. Im sure they will slowly end up releasing it. I still find it way to pricey when I have no issues keeping up with SAS rigs with stock LCA"s, cv's and ball joints.

then the guys your wheeling with aren't trying hard enough. LOL :biggrin1: I know what your saying though. really the main difference betwyeen my 84 crawler and my 98 is approach and departure angles due to the 39.5 pittbull rockers. Somehow I don't think my 98 front end would hold up to those. but with a 8" front and rcv tundra cv's I might be able to run 37's and not worry to much. But your right the price tag is going to be pretty steep. But Ive got about 1200 into my 85 front axle and the peace of mind is totally worth it. So I now have a new jar to stuff money into to save up for more front end stuff. :fishing:

I'm NOT knocking their product, but you'll still have the exact same LBJ as you do now. Look at this picture, and you'll see the stock LBJ. Stock is stock, and there's no beefing up stock.

I looked at this build quite a few times and never noticed this. Good eye!

They should incorporate UNIBALL LBJ! Doesn't total chaos incorporate uniball in their long travel kit ?

They said any where from $2000-2500 and imthey will have long travel kit and diff/axle shaft upgrades

Pretty sure all companies beside Solo Motorsports uses the stock LBJ. With Solo you'll need to purchase their fully welded spindle to use their LCA's.

Interesting. I'll have to look at it. I swear I though TC used uniball. I seen a guy with 5th generation and TC long travel. And it was uniball

TC DOES use the uniball on their long travel kit. I want just a regular LCA with a uniball so I can have a BA mid travel. I talked to FROR and the beefy stock sized LCA may be a while. Guess I will have to just replace mine with stock.

I forget the members name. But he makes custom uniball LBJ. I'm waiting on him to tell me when he has a set. Been months nothing yet.

What's BA? A regular stock LCA reinforced with uniball would be tits.

I wonder if Brian could use a 4th gen spindle and lbj? Better design and stronger. It would raise the price of the conversion because of sourcing more parts. Just a thought.

I've though about that before.

I think that'll a lot more work than most would want to do. I've thought about trying to fit 4th or 5th Gen stuff on the front. You'd have to replace everything from the LCA's to the UCA's.

Yep. I don't have time for any new projects as it is. I've only got 10 months to get 2 vehicles ready to live out of time, and I'm strapped for time. The only thing I plan on coming out with this year is a roof rack.
