I built this 4runner with the help of a few knowledgeable friends. The quality of fab work and layout of the 4runner is shown fairly well in my build. This is my daily driver and it runs and drives great at all speeds. This 4runner will wheel some of the harder trails around and give you the comfort and smooth ride you want around town or down the highway.


2001 4runner SR5 (with leather) 131,xxx miles, 3.4L V6, Auto trans, 23" frame hight on 37's

Front Suspension:
12" ORI's
Custom Radius arm setup using 2" DOM .250" wall tubing and 3.0 Ballistic joints
Ballistic fab heavy duty frame link mounts
Front frame reinforcement plates
Modified All Pro upper coilover towers
Ballistic fab Dana 44 coilover mount/gusset for lower mount

Rear Suspension:
FJ80 coils
OME shocks
Rear shock mounts relocated for more ground clearance
Extended rear sway bar links

Front Axle:
High Pinion Dana 44
Cromo inner and outer shafts
Yukon super joints
Warn premium lockout hubs
5.38 Reverse cut gears

Any interest in a 73 FJ40? Small block V8, tbi fuel inection, painless wire harness, NV4500 with 6.32:1 first gear, full cage, tube fenders, bumpers, sliders etc all built professionally, heated PRP suspension seats, 5 points, etc...

These pics are with toyota axles still under it and 37's, it is currently sitting on Dana 60 front and Dana 70 rear, 4.88's arb's front and rear, 35 spline front and rear, CTM u joints and shafts front, disc brakes front and rear etc...It is not 100% complete from the swap yet, still need to put shock mounts, run lines for the ARB's, hook up brake lines and some other small details like that, but those things can be completed or "negotiated" into the final deal. Also, i still have the 37's (which are almost brand new, 4 of them) or it can come with a set of (5) 40" Toyo MT's (probably 1/4 tread left, spare is almost new).









I have a truck and trailer so hauling/transporting isnt an issue.

I'll shoot you a txt or give you a call tomorrow, just putting this here in case you see it before i get a chance to call.

That's one awesome 40 series! Unfortunately being that this is my daily driver I won't be able to trade for something that is more of a trail rig and less of a DD. Thanks for the offer and again very cool 40.

If the 4runner sells I'll be working on another project but I'll keep that a secret for now. If it doesn't I have plans for it too.

I'm ready to move into a 3rd gen 4runner from my regular cab Tacoma. Id love to have a quality SAS turn key but this amazing 4runner may be just a little too much for me as it would be DD more than wheeled. Just a few questions to entertain my curiosity and maybe convince me to make a move.
Roughly what kind of gas mileage are you getting as your daily driver? Have you had it in the snow; does the slightly different gear ratios cause any adverse effects? I know the 3% rule for ratios and wheeling but it will see 4WD on the roads. I'm in New Hampshire so its going to see plenty of nasty roads. Lastly in NH we cant really have the tread stick out past the wheel well. I can get away with about an inch or so if you drop a plumb line off the fender. So how far do the tires stick out past the fenders? I'm assuming the fenders are cut so no stock flares would fit? I'd fab up so removable flares just to be legal and pull them for wheeling....thanks for the info

I currently drive this 4runner everyday. So it's definetly daily driving more than wheeled. Nice thing is it's great at both.

-I average 14mpg in town and depending on how flat or hilly it is highway mileage can change quite a bit as a guess I'd say 17-19mph depending.

-I had it in the snow a lot last year. We had several weeks of snow and ice and the 4runner did great. Driving around town was easy and snow wheeling was a blast.

-The gear ratios are not an issue. I've had the SAS done for over a year and used in 4x4 on the road multiple time (mostly when I thought I would be hitting areas covered in snow or ice). Even talked with Marlin before installing my Dana 44 up front and he said that this gear setup would be fine and never be noticable.

-The tires stick out quite a bit (picture below). However the fenders in the rear haven't been trimmed and would accommodate bushwhacker or stalk flares with no issue and the front fenders have only been trimmed to clear the 35's before the SAS (so it is very minimal) and should accommodate bushwhacker or stalk flares also. If you need exact measurements let me know and I'll get them for you.
