SOLD I now have a GX470!
Looking to move up to a Land Cruiser or GX 470, which is the only reason I'm selling my 4Runner. I did have this 4Runner up for sale a couple of months ago before pulling it as a result of an unexpected (but positive) job change. With things a bit more settled now, it is time for the 4Runner to go back on the market. I had a LOT of interest for it back then. I'm alerting everyone who was interested in it at the time - maybe some are still on the market.
I looked long and hard to find this 4Runner. It has helped me "relive" the 2000 I had back when they were new. I'm enjoying it so much, in fact, that I have decided it is worth me investing in a larger and roomier vehicle to use as more of an official expedition-type 4x4. My goal when I bought this 4Runner about 1.5 years ago was to make it drive as-new but to modestly improve its off road ability. I think I succeeded.

Specs:
2002 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition 4WD
- 3.4L V6, automatic, locking center differential, etc.
- Sport Package - hood scoop, painted flares/bumpers, special fabric upholstery, etc.
- tow hitch, roof rack, rear spoiler
- 121,500 miles
Price: $8,900.
Upgrades:
- tinted front windows to match rears
- '99 3/4" taller springs (no sag whatsoever!)
- KYB gas-a-just struts (have 3-4k on them)
- 17" Lexus GX wheels wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler AT/S tires (have maybe 1,500 miles on them)
- JVC bluetooth head unit w/remote
- auto dim mirror with compass/temperature
- front mud flaps
- remote start
Recent maintenance (in last 15,000 miles)
- timing belt/water pump
- a/c refrigerant
- blower fan
- coolant flush
- air filter
- sway bar bushings
- sway bar end links
- power steering flush
- transmission flush
- throttle body cleaning
- drive shaft lube
- oil changes (of course; will have fresh oil for next owner)
- front rotors/pads
- driver's door check/strap replaced
- steering rack bushings
- I have all receipts dating back to about 60,000 miles plus the full owner's manual kit.
Condition
- Excellent. Some small nicks and dings here and there but overall significantly better than average for 12 year old 4Runner.
- Vehicle has clearly been "loved." I searched for months before finding this one in El Paso (but I am in Dallas)
- Clean TX title in my name in hand
- No wrecks per Carfax; I am the third owner (first in PA, second in NC and TX)
- Rear hatch has been painted but is original (VIN sticker attached). Paint is perfect match but a little bit of overspray is evident on the latching mechanism. Probably was scraped by a previous owner.
- top of grille has some rubbing marks from a bug guard that was on it when I got it (upside is that the hood is essentially rock chip free!)
- Interior is excellent. Note that I recently replaced the center console silver trim to fix that rubbed off section (it looks brand new now).
- Cargo cover and rear headrests not pictured but included
- Non-smoker/no pets/no kids. 99% of the time it is just me in the 4Runner.
- Only "problem" is that the driver's window motor is loud (but works fine)
- No leaks, burns no oil (oil in there now has about 2,500 on it and is still "gold")
- Has not been abused off road. I've taken it twice to a 4x4 park.
In short, this is an extremely well-maintained 4Runner in a desirable color and trim. It drives and rides like new. Needs nothing to be enjoyed immediately. Any upgrades I made were designed to improve drivability without compromising the ability to use it as a daily driver.
