It's come time to part with my 2004 Limited 4Runner 4x4 V6. It's sitting right at 209k miles but as anyone here can tell you, that's just broken in for these trucks. This truck has a clean Carfax and I believe I’m the 2nd (possibly 3rd) owner. It would make someone a great hunting rig or be a solid vehicle for your new driver – or maybe you just love 4th Gens like me :wink2:
The Good:
- Truck was Line-X'd in 2015 by Line-X of McKinney and has a 25 year warranty on the work. You CANNOT scratch this thing without using a broadsword :biggrin1: It was out in the big hail storm this spring and didn't take even the tiniest bit of damage. The Line-X is NOT applied at the same thickness as a truck bed - it's a thinner coat and only adds 40 lbs to the weight of the truck. I didn’t have the jams done so they are still white (the original color of the 4R).
- It's got the TRD Trail Team FJ Shocks and Springs (installed around 155k miles - they were take-offs from a brand new FJ) with a 1" lift out back and 1.5" up front (if memory serves).
- I just did a tune up at 190k miles and replaced the plugs, wires, filters, etc.
- Oil always changed every 4k miles.
- Has nearly new 265/70/17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on Level 8 MK6 Gunmetal wheels. These are a 10 ply tire but ride like a 4-ply. The wheels and tires went on in December of 2016 but don’t have very many miles on them because I have a work vehicle I drive most of the time.
- New windshield installed in April of 2017 (thanks a lot rock hauler:/)
- Has aftermarket plastic mats and a plastic cargo tray. Also has factory cargo cover and the factory cargo net.
- New headlights installed just after these photos were taken (same style).
The Bad:
- Needs a new wheel bearing on the front passenger side.
- Check Engine Light is on due to an error code from passenger side rear O2 sensor. Nothing a O2 simulator for $50 won’t fix. The VSC/TRAC lights are on because of this too.
- There’s a small crack/tear in the driver’s seat on the left side (where ALL of them do on these at this kind of mileage).
- The tint is dark but it isn’t perfect – a few small knicks and one spot where my five year old decided to peel a section about the size of a quarter.
- Could use a good deep cleaning/detail (the Line-X tends to make you not concerned about washing it, lol).
