I'm selling my 1996 Toyota 4Runner with 140,000 miles, automatic transmission, SR5, 4wd (4x4).
Truck is daily driven and the 4wd works flawlessly during winter, never once gotten stuck. Heater and a/c work no problem either. I've owned it for the last 14 years (eek!)
I did do some modifications which helps during winter driving when the snow starts to pile up, or if you feel like taking a trip to the lake or for some light off-roading:
- 2.5" suspension lift and 1" body lift
- 285/75/16 Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo's All-Terrain tires
- 4.88 gears front and rear
- Trailer hitch welded to the frame for additional strength
- Custom rock sliders on each that protect the rockers and can be used as a step
- Magnaflow muffler
- CB radio inside and single disc CD player
- Viper alarm system
Timing Belt, Water Pump, Steering Rack and ball joints all replaced recently.
Issues:
The only issues are some rust at the rear rockers and above the front windshield, the rear diff leaks a bit but I just fill it back up every so often and never had any issues. One exhaust hanger has also rusted. The e-brake stopped working recently as well.
Overall the truck is in pretty good condition for its age, very reliable and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it every day (as I do now) all throughout winter. This truck would be the perfect winter vehicle and you would never have to worry if we have another huge snow storm.
