i recently inquired about a radio out of a 2002 4Runner for my 1999 and the guy told me it wouldn't work.

Does / can this come with the aux out wiring and port, too?

This may work in a 3rd Gen .I think the wiring is the same.As far as a 2002 and a 1999,they will interchange without a problem.I have seen posts on here where people have put Scion Radios in 3rd Gen's.The stereo is hard wired for an auxililary as it came out of a 2008.

Nice. I have an 04 w/ the fancy JBL surround system, would this be a plug-and-play swap? I really want an aux input.

You would have to buy an adaptor.I think you can get them on Ebay pretty cheap.It connects a non JBL stereo to a JBL wired system.
