Alex indicated to me an ~6 week lead time a few weeks ago - For being handmade, and customizable, thats a pretty reasonable lead time. Not sure if its the same right this moment -

Just a quick note to update you guys on the build time for the 5th gen racks. As of now, build time is at 6-8 weeks.
I know initially it was 3-4, but due to some very unfortunate circumstances (the unexpected passing of a very dear friend who assisted in building most of the early racks and unexpected issues with powder coater), build time has been delayed.
I want to assure everyone that I am working tirelessly on current orders. I'm also in the process of hiring an assistant to help bring the build time back to around 3-4 weeks.
In the mean time, I hope you guys will continue to be patient with me while I adjust to the growing demand. To assure that I respond to all of you guys (in a reasonable amount of time) who are interested in buying a rack or have general questions, please send emails to [email protected]. Office phone number will be up in the next few weeks.

The light bar looks awesome up there. That's the same setup I'd like to go for as well! One quick question though....do you notice any sort of whistling noise driving at higher speeds? I do not want to put up the wind deflector, because IMHO, it kinda looks silly and out of place on the rack.
Lastly, is that the Rigid 40" E2 series? What are your thoughts of it so far? If you could be so kind, could you take a pic of what it looks like with the light bar on and off?!

There is definitely a bit of wind noise, but I don't find it bothersome. I may look at modifying the deflector to work at some point though.
The bar is actually from Seward Offroad, fraction of the price and damn near the same performance numbers as the rigid e2. Haven't had a chance to actually wire it in yet, but I'll post photos as soon as I get to it.

Ways to use Alex's rack
Hi guys,
I just got back from a week long Yosemite-Mammoth Lakes/Eastern Sierra run and as such have a couple of pictures to put up of some ways to use Alex's Camelback Metal Gear Rack. Here they come:
1. You can put some stuff up there so you can keep some sort of rearward visibility!
2. You can put your kids stroller up there!
3. Last but not least, you can throw your camp chair up there and use it as a great place to relax.
Hope these pictures inspire you to use yours!

I haven't had a chance to load up my tent onto this rack yet, however, I have used my tent on the stock rails a couple times without any trouble whatsoever. check out my build thread for a photo.

Let me back up a little, and maybe Alex, you can chime in on this:
I currently have a CVT (Mt Bachelor) and the Baja Racks RTT-specific rack. It has been great, gets the job done, but there are a few things i'm not so stoked on.
I'm at the point where I would like a full length rack, but want the back half to be flat (I want the tent as low as possible on the roof), and the front to have the double bar for storage and mounting gear.
I've attached a picture of the Perkin's Performance rack (hear they closed shop), which is exactly what I'm looking for.
Alex - is this something that you would be able to create? Would you be able to also place cross bars in the same spacing as Baja Racks so that their lower RTT mounting brackets could be used? (I'll get you a picture of this asap). Shoot me a PM if you are interested in this, I can get you measurements, pictures, ect.
