FS: Autodimming Compass Mirror

I have an extra Gentex (GNTX-177) auto dimming mirror with digital compass display for sale. It fits the 4th generation 4runner and should fit any vehicle with a standard tapered mount wedge on the windshield. This is the same model # as the OEM Toyota mirror for the 4th gen. There are several variations with the same model number. Please look at the pictures so you understand what you'll be getting.

The mirror is used and in good clean condition. The specks you see in the picture are just dust. The mirror is free of any scratchs, cracks, or other blemishes. Everything works as it should.

Included is a wiring harness with enough wire to comfortably reach the factory recommended installation points, a ring connector installed on the ground wire, and a snap on T-Tap connector for the switched accessory wire. Just follow the installation instructions (posted elsewhere on this site) and you should be up and running in less than 1 hour.

The only thing NOT INCLUDED is the little wire cover that snaps on between the mirror and the head liner. It can be ordered from Toyota, Partznet, or on ebay for less than $5. The cover is cosmetic only.

I'm looking to get $99 for this. You pay actual shipping costs (should be about $12 to anywhere in the 48 states). Payment by Paypal only. PM me if you're interested.

Hey Rando, I sent you a PM earlier today regarding the mirror...please let me know.

Thanks

OK, sorry it didn't pop up. I don't know why. In any case, you might ask your question in the open forums.

Okay, thanks. Well, I guess my question is, does it come with the piece that glues to the windshield for the mirror to mount to? On my 3rd gen 4Runner, the mirror is mounted in the headliner near the sunglasses holder and not to the windshield directly so that's why I'm asking if it comes with the actual "button" or whatever is required to mount it to the glass. Does that make sense? :)

Thanks!

No, as the post says, it fits most vehicles with a wedge mount. If your truck doesn't have the mount, then you'd need to add it. These mirrors don't come with the button. That's usually something that is installed with the windshield glass itself. You can probably rip your mirror out and buy the wedge button and glue it on yourself but that's likely more trouble than a mirror is worth. It might be easier (and more cost effective) to just buy a mirror designed for your current fitting.

Alright, thanks for the info. I highly doubt that there is any auto-dimming mirror designed for the 3rd gen Runner because the mounting mechanism is fairly unique. I'll check tomorrow to see if I can locate the button or wedge mount piece that is required to get the mirror mounted and then I'll get back to you because I am interested.

A automotive glass repair shop might be your best bet.

Still available. Mailbox cleared.

I'm interested in picking it up from you as I mentioned up above. By any chance, do you have a link to the instructions?

Let me know your pay pal addy.

You have PM.

The factory installation instructions are here.

I'll also throw in the calibration instructions that came with the mirror. These describe the simple process for selecting which zone of the earth's magnetic field you live in.
