For use on a 3rd Gen, these are best with a LC lift or possibly superflex rear coil, and with some extra rear weight. Rode great with 300+ extra pounds but too stiff for me personally without it. I switched to Bilstein 5100s.

What model # 5100 did you go with.
I've run OEM 80 series shocks like these since my lift and they are shot. Time for an upgrade.

I installed Bilstein part# 24-186728 (old part# F4-BE5-C476-H0)
Intended for an 05+ Tacoma. They are identical to the 1st Gen Tundra rear Billies that people use except that they are about 1/2" longer with 1/2" more travel; pretty much an exact match to the OEM LC shocks in length. To use them you have to press out the bushings that come on the lower eye mount and press in new .75" bushings - just like the Tundra rear billies.

Top: '97 LC rear shock
Middle: 05+ Tacoma Bilstein rear with .75" bushing installed in lower eye
Bottom: Stock 99 4runner rear
