FS: Two 3rd Gen Sport Hoods - Texas

The Imperial Jade Mica Sport hood (GREEN 002) has been SOLD!

GRAY 001 is still available.

I just bought two 3rd Gen OEM Sport hoods. One is Gray (GRAY 001) and the other one is Green (GREEN 002). I'll know more Saturday when I load them into my 4Runner, but both hoods look to be real nice from the photos that I have seen so far.

This is not final pricing, but the Gray hood looks like it will be at or close to the $395 price. The Green hood looks like it will be between $350 and $380. I'll know more as I put my hands on them and get them cleaned up.

I'll post some photos later tonight of them on the vehicles before they were pulled. I'll have better photos Saturday when I'm picking them up on my roadtrip. Text me for those photos as I'll be on the road and not on my computer.

Please call or text me at 979-574-2070 if you want one of these. I accept PayPal or cash. As always no holds, dibs, PMs or posts for securing a hood. The first person to pay me gets the hood. Not counting the Stellar Blue hood (BLUE 001) that I sold earlier this week in several days in Cincinnati, the previous hood I sold (BLACK 001) sold in 4 hours and the Green one before that (GREEN 001) sold in 15 minutes. If you want one of these rare OEM Sport hoods you should pull the trigger sooner rather than later. TOYOTA is not manufacturing 3rd Gen Sport hoods anymore, and with each passing day there are fewer of these remaining in existence.

I'll have better photos once I pick up these hoods Saturday. If you text me Saturday I can reply with the new photos I take from my iPhone. Maybe someone can post them here for me while I'm on the road all around Texas. I'll basically be driving a large triangular route between College Station, Abilene, Fort Worth, and then back to College Station. If you are a forum member who wants one of these hoods and you happen to live along this route (or have a friend who lives along this route) we might be able to meet up for the transaction. I'll be leaving College Station at 7:00am or earlier Saturday morning.

So far this is the only photo I have of GREEN 002. This Sport hood is on a 2001.

So far I have three good photos of GRAY 001. This Sport hood is on a 2002.

I cannot get the front skid plate off that particular 4Runner because both of these salvage yards are closed on Saturdays. I had to make arrangements to pick-up each of these hoods at alternate locations.

I have some up close-up photos of the Gray Sport hood. I quickly wiped down the front, but haven't had time to clean up the underside yet. It looks about as nice as SILVER 001 that I sold for $395. The price for this hood will be $385. I've seen very few of these Gray hoods for sale anywhere. The Sport hoods only came in Gray one year... 2002.

I'm in a grassy meadow off 114 (near the Texas Motor Speedway) trying to wipe down Sport hoods before the sun goes down!

Now I have some up close-up photos of the Green Sport hood. I quickly wiped down the front, but haven't had time to clean up the underside yet. It looks better than any Green Sport hood that I have seen for sale so far. There is no oxidation or clear coat peel like you see on some of these Green hoods. There are some light scratches that should buff out. The scoop insert needs to be repainted in my opinion. The price for this hood will be $365.

Shipping is difficult and expensive. I shipped a Sport hood to California and started a tutorial thread about the entire process. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/188609-tutorial-shipping-sport-hood-greyhound-texas-california.html Shipping the hood on Greyhound cost just under $150. The buyer paid me $150 for supplies, packing, boxing, and transporting the boxed hood to Greyhound. The cost for the hood itself was $395.

The project was successful as the hood arrived in Cailfornia undamaged. The supplies, including a custom box, cost just over $200. I drove to Dallas (6-hour round trip) to pick up the box. Outside of getting the box much time was spent doing everything necessary to box the hood. If you read the thread it will be obvious that I cannot do this for $150 - I lost $50 on supplies alone.

I wanted to ship a Sport hood so that I could have a better idea of the time and expense involved. Now that I have done it I know that there is much more time and expense on the "handling" side than I anticipated. I wouldn't say that won't ship another Sport hood, but it would require much more than a $150 handling fee. I think it would be more than most would be willing to pay.
